Beige Book

Macro
Definition
Federal Reserve report published 8 times a year, two weeks before each FOMC meeting. Compiles anecdotal economic information from each of the 12 Fed districts — qualitative input rather than statistical data.

Useful for catching emerging trends BEFORE they show up in hard data: layoffs, wage pressure, supply-chain shifts, regional housing changes. Markets occasionally move on Beige Book quotes, especially around inflection points.
