Definition
Federal Open Market Committee. The Fed's monetary-policy-setting body. 12 voting members: 7 Fed Board governors + 5 of the 12 Reserve Bank presidents (NY Fed always votes; the rest rotate).

Meets 8 times per year to set the Fed Funds Rate target and communicate forward guidance. Each meeting publishes a statement, dot plot (4× per year), and is followed by a Chair press conference. Markets parse every word.
