Definition

The income return on an investment, expressed as a percentage. For bonds: coupon / price. For stocks: dividend / price. For real estate: NOI / price (cap rate).

Formula

Yield = Annual income / Price

Example

A bond bought at $950 with a $40 annual coupon = 4.2% current yield.
