Private wealth-management firm serving a single family (or a few). Single-family office (SFO) typically requires $100M+ in assets to justify costs. Multi-family office (MFO) pools several families.

Structures investments across all asset classes, often with significant private allocations. Famous SFO blowups: Archegos (Bill Hwang, 2021), the Oppenheimer family's Yorktown.
