Buy and hold

Investing
Definition
Strategy of buying high-quality assets and holding them indefinitely, regardless of short-term market moves. Backed by decades of empirical evidence: most investors do best when they minimize trading.

Famous practitioners: Buffett, Munger, Bogle. The S&P 500 has compounded ~10% annually for 100+ years through buy-and-hold; same period for the average market timer: ~5-6%.
