ABS

Fixed Income
Definition
Asset-Backed Security. A bond backed by a pool of consumer loans — auto loans, credit card receivables, student loans, equipment leases. Smaller than MBS market but plays similar role.

Subprime auto ABS is currently a stress watchpoint: delinquencies are at financial-crisis-era levels for low-FICO borrowers (2024-2025).
